Reflective

The two parts in this clarinet duet are not a true reflection of the other part, yet the two parts sound quite related. The second part is distorted by altering the direction/octave of the same notes while keeping the rhythm intact. The feel of the two similar parts weaving together stays fresh in the listeners’ ears because the length of the rests between iterations of the phrases is always changing. This effect of these parameters creates an angular groove as the piece flows and unravels.
